Yellow Fever (Trailer)
An exploration of race and beauty, that was triggered by a childhood memory of a hairdresser that could only afford to bleach her hands and face.
This documentary contains mixed media including different styles of animation, such as hand drawn and pixilation as well as live action, which culminate in a poetic exploration of beauty and race. Beauty in fairer skin is not just an African problem, but global and possibly even more pertinent in Asia. This documentarian choses to set her work in a familiar environment, her home country, Kenya to explore this issue in her thesis film at the Royal College of Art.
